The improbable, nearly impossible journey to the National Championship game for a non - BCS teamThis demonstrates why a non – BCS team will realistically never play in the BCS National Championship game.
). No Preseason Ranking - The biased majority BCS human voters / computer programs ensure few, if any, TOP 25 preseason rankings for the 54 non – BCS teams, thus immediately eliminating those not ranked in preseason from national title chase.
). Undefeated Regular Season - The 1 or 2 non – BCS teams, if any, ranked in preseason must win every game to slowly climb in the polls / rankings. A single loss generally drops a non – BCS team totally out of the TOP 25. Remember that less than 1% of all non – BCS teams have gone undefeated in BCS history, only 4 teams in 10 years!
). Huge 53 to 1 Odds Against Receiving a BCS Bowl Berth - BCS rules limit all 54 non-BCS teams to only 1 automatic BCS bowl berth – poor odds, 53 to 1 against or 2%!
). Extremely Rare BCS Bowl Berth Received - Undefeated Utah (11-0) in 2004, undefeated Boise State (12-0) in 2006, and undefeated Hawaii (12-0) in 2007 received a BCS bowl berth. Only 3 BCS bowl berths (and their lucrative payouts) of all 84 berths in BCS history have been received by non – BCS teams (i.e., less than 4%)!
). Never Receive BCS National Championship Game Berth - Biased majority BCS human voters / computer programs ensure 2 BCS teams qualify for title game, regardless of records. A non – BCS team has never received a berth in the BCS National Championship Game and, most likely, never will receive such.
). BCS Bowl Win – In 2005 BCS Fiesta Bowl, Utah destroyed BCS Big East champion Pittsburgh, 35 – 7, and Boise State, in the 2007 BCS Fiesta Bowl, beat BCS Big 12 champion Oklahoma in overtime, 43 – 42. Hawaii lost to Georgia in the 2008 BCS Sugar Bowl, 41 – 10. Non – BCS teams prove on field that they can compete and beat BCS conference champions, yet they never receive a berth to BCS Championship Game.
). Undefeated after BCS Bowl Win - Both Utah (12 – 0) and Boise State (13 – 0) finished the bowl season undefeated. Utah and Boise State end up ranked 4th and 5th in final post – bowl poll.
). Never Win BCS National Championship – Boise State (13 - 0) in 2006 was the only undefeated team after the bowl season of all 119 teams, yet due to biased BCS system, did not win a national championship (or did not even receive the opportunity to play for such).
). Biased BCS System Starts Again with 2007 Preseason Polls – 2007 Preseason polls only have one – BCS team ranked, Hawaii at 23rd. Polls ignore Boise State's 13 game winning streak and BYU's 10 game winning streak (2 longest streaks in nation). Cycle continues up at step 1).
