92% or 110 teams of all 120 Division 1A / FBS teams are realistically eliminated as National Champion before a single game is played (based on the BCS' 11 - year history)!

No team in the 11 – year BCS history has won a BCS National Championship without having been ranked in the consensus preseason TOP 25 polls! In fact, 10 of the 11 BCS National Champions had a consensus preseason ranking of 11th or better with an average consensus preseason rank of 5th! Shockingly, at least 110 of the 120 teams (not TOP 10 consensus preseason teams) or 92% are eliminated as BCS National Champion before a game is even played due to no or low consensus preseason ranking and / or built – in BCS system bias! Sadly, the only Division 1 – A teams that have a practical chance to become the BCS National Champion are the TOP 10 or so BCS teams in the TOP 25 consensus preseason polls!

During the BCS era, TOP 25 consensus preseason polls have been dominated by a group of 33 BCS teams (and 1 non - BCS team). During the first 10 years of the BCS, this group of BCS teams have represented 22 of the 25 rankings in TOP 25 consensus preseason polls each year, leaving only 3 or 4 rankings for the remaining 86 teams (33 BCS schools and 53 non – BCS teams). These remaining few rankings not taken by this same group of 33 BCS teams are almost always the last few rankings in the TOP 25 poll (21st to 25th ), too low to realistically compete for the BCS National Championship.

Only 11 different teams (8% of all Division 1 – A / FBS teams) have had the incredible opportunity to play in the 11 BCS National Championship Games – Florida State (3 appearances), Oklahoma (4 appearances), Ohio State (3 appearances), Florida (2 appearances), USC (2 appearances), Miami (2 appearances), LSU (2 appearances), and single appearances by Texas, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska.
